Silvia Ferrari, PhD – Lab Manager

Dr. Silvia Ferrari has a long experience in molecular and cellular biology. She obtained her master degree in Biology in 2004 and her Ph.D in Molecular and Regenerative Medicine at the University of Modena, working on an international project on “A novel function for HOXD13 in DNA replication: control of origin activity in antagonism with Geminin”. Since 2012 she is working as consultant in research and innovation project related with the biomedical sector.

Marco camice

Marco Orecchioni, Bsc – PhD student

He obtained his master degree (summa cum laude) in medical and veterinary biotechnologies at the University of Sassari with a thesis in nanobiotechnology about the impact of carbon nanotubes on immune cells. Now he is a PhD candidate in the school of life science and biotechnologies with the supervision of Dr Lucia Gemma Delogu. His work is mainly focused on the biological action of different carbon nanomaterials (CNMs) (Carbon Nanotubes and Graphene), analyzing the impact and the molecular interaction of different CNMs on the immune system. In particular, the found immune modulatory proprieties of specific type of CNMs represents the proof of principle to develop new nanoscale platforms in medicine i.e. as novel immunotherapeutic tools.

She obtained her degree in Biotechnologies at the University of Sassari doing a thesis in Nanotechnology about the Synthesis of Magnetic Nanoparticles, funcionalization and coating on the surface for interaction with Albumin (BSA) for Biological Applications in collaboration with LMNT (Materials Science and Nanotechnology Laboratory) of Porto Conte Ricerche Alghero (Italy).  She obtained her master degree, (summa cum laude) in medical and veterinary biotechnologies at the University of Sassari doing a thesis in molecular biology in collaboration with laboratory of experimental Surgical Oncology of the Erasmus MC Rotterdam (Netherlands).

Valentina Bordoni, Bsc

She obtained her master degree, (summa cum laude) in Experimental and Applied Biology at University of Pavia doing a tesis in molecular oncolgy about tumor biomarkers related to radiotherapy in head-neck cancer. She did an internship at the Radiotherapy Department, University Hospital Dr. Negrin, Las Palmas De Gran Canaria. She worked as junior research fellow at Mario Negri Institute, Milan.

She obtained her master degree (summa cum laude) in Experimental and Applied Biology at University of Sassari. Her  thesis in Clinical Biochemistry is focused onthe identification of biomarkers related to cardiovascular disease prevention. After one year of experience abroad ,she has recently joined the research group coordinated by Dr Lucia Gemma Delogu.
